Ia’orana!

This letter is written in behalf of the dance company, Te Mana O Te Ra, a non-profit organization home-based in Walnut Creek, California.  This letter is to seek your support for our scholarship program.

The purpose and mission of our dance company is to perpetuate and present the culture of Tahiti (French Polynesia) and all the pacific islands in the most ethnic way possible and to educate, not only those who dance with us, but to as many people worldwide.

We tirelessly seek opportunities for the dance company to learn the language, art forms, crafts and history of Tahiti and her neighboring islands.  This has been accomplished through workshops, ethnic festivals, travels to the Pacific, competitions both locally/afar, and public appearances.  All of the events assume costs in preparation, coordinating, rentals for rehearsals, costume costs, etc.  Because of this, many times deserving students are limited in their participation due to costs.  One of the main objectives of Te Mana O Te Ra is scholarship opportunities for students that have the ability and eagerness to learn – be given the chance to pursue these goals.  That is why we ask for your support in this venue.

We would appreciate your consideration and donation towards our organization, and most importantly to our youth.  Through the 27 years of efforts through this art form, we have had many students blossom in a positive direction and not only learn and appreciate the world of performing arts and the diversity of people they encounter, but also find the positive energy that can be achieved without a lot of the negative factors that surround our youth today, i.e., drugs, gangs, and idle time.

Again, we are a non-profit organization and your donation is tax deductible.  Please feel free to contact us at the listed address and phone numbers to direct your donation or if you have additional questions.  In behalf of Te Mana O Te Ra, “maruuru” or “thank you” for your time and most importantly, your support!
